Potatoes and Mushrooms

Fried Potatoes and Mushrooms is one of the favorite Russian dishes. It is customary to pick up fresh mushrooms in the forest and bring them home to fry. Unheard of in the US tradition is very much alive in Russia. Fresh mushrooms always smell foresty. Clean them well.
You can take

  • 1 Medium Onion,
  • 1/2 Lb of Mushrooms.
Cut potatoes
Cut mushrooms
Add Onions
Cut all the ingredients into small cubes and using 3 spoons of Olive Oil cook them in the frying pan until Potatoes are soft. Bon Apetit!

  1. After my wife moved here from Russia, the first time we took a walk on the bike path near our house, she saw some mushrooms growing in the field and she wanted to pick them and bring them home. I told her, it isn't like Russia, here you can't just go into a field that probably is someone's property and start picking things that are growing there. Her son, who still lives in Russia picked baskets and baskets full of mushrooms in the fall (which they canned). They will probably last him and his wife all winter.

    1. Thank you so much for you comment. Yes , in Russia we love our mushrooms, but you have to know which ones are OK to eat and which ones are poisonous. Most people possess those necessary skills and enjoy mashrooms all year around. They dry them. They pickle them and eat in the winter. It is a refreshing treat!
